Agreed with Karl 100% Other options would include the Clarion 553L (roughly $120) or a Tekota 700/800 (roughly $250)

700 takota take 300 section with backing you have to move up to the 800 for 400 and 450 sections.

Thanks guys.I will have to pick up a 55 then.I guess i will use the 45 for my 10 colour.Do you think a 300 yard spool of 50# pp is enough backing or should i take it to a shop for a little more? Thanks again,I will pay you back with some TRUE reports later on!

Thanks guys,my reels all came in that i ordered.I stayed with convectors. Is this figure of 1000' for 30 or 45# copper.I bought a spool of 45 so i dont want to put too much backing on it.

It's for the 45lb dude. I just rigged up a 400' foot section on a clarion 553. I put 300 yds (900') of 50lb pp with a small bit of mono backing, my 400' of 45lb copper and 25' floro. leader. Filled her up nice and full. I do need to let this rig out with some weight/dipsey though to get her nice and snug on the spool.

I just tried to put 400' of #45 copper on my 55L that was supposed to have 900' of 50#PP.I did not come close.I ended up winding the copper back on to the spool by hand & removed ? amount of backing(I guess 200').I then tried the copper again and still came up over full.Next was peeling back some copper & cuting it so i could fit some leader.I still have to measure but i think i just wasted about 75-100'.I took a better look at the package the A-Tom-Mik copper came in & it says only 600' of #50 PP backing.I don't know how others used as much backing as they did?A very frustrating evening but i hope the first fish on the copper is worth it! Is it possible the busy line clinic put on too much backing?I can't see them giving out free line.
