Some are starting to show up already. Usually the Niagara bar is a good early season spot.

What's the best boat launch to fish the bar?. I am not familiar with the area so any help is appreciated.

There is only one - SCGFA boat ramp - the best

  • The fishing was good; the catching was bad.

Hi Guys
There is also the Queenston Ramp but I would say you need to be skilled and confident in your launching abilities.  I suspect there is not much tolerance for beginners down there.  The parking also "leaves something to be desired" if it is a busy day.
If you are local, I would go and look at it first before going there to launch.

St. Catharines Marina on the east side of Port Weller has a decent ramp too, not sure of their hours or pricing though

We got into some kings today off the bar. I saw a lot of Canadian boats near the line. I am sure there were some kings caught by you guys today. The fish look great coming out of winter

We got a nice king out in front of the Welland canal in 50fow. Lots of lakers everywhere and some that we caught were spitting out smelts.
