SWR with long coppers?
« on: April 11, 2013, 09:27:17 pm »
I know a typical SWR consists of say a 2 color or 50' of copper, but does anyone have opinions on a long (400 copper as a SWR?  For example, drop the rigger 80-90 feet with 450 copper getting to around 160-180ft.  The only issue I can think of is the release.  I run Blacks, so they are adjustable, but can they be tight enough to drag the copper?  Also, do you think there would be any issues when a fish hits other than the huge amount of slack, esp. if/when it pops the release?  Anyone ever try this or does it sound like a huge nightmare

Ran a 300 copper off a rigger once when we where trying to get super deep.  didnt' catch a fish but it worked with the blacks release.
