According to the Stats Canada Summary the average age of an angler is increasing. The study is only published every 5 years and there is no regional data, so it would be interesting to see the average age of Lake Ontario angers.

On the www.lakesimcoemessageboa rd.com which is busiest in the winter, we run a poll during the winter only. The results after 2 winters is interesting as it shows the average age of an ice angler to be almost 10 years younger than the country open water angler.

Spoonpullers is primarily a salmon and trout trolling and stream side membership. What is the average age?

An interesting poll for sure. John, does knowing your users avg age help with getting site sponsors and advertising as well?

Also, if you ran this on your other board during its peak use, wouldn't it make sense to run this poll in the summer?

The biggest barrier to entry in the big water trolling game is cash...most don't have enough free cash until they are a bit older.

There are no results yet but you can watch as the numbers come in. This poll is Lake Ontario anglers or at least targeting the trolling geodem.

i have to agree money is the biggest issue not many 16-25 year olds can afford the equipment to get out on big water im 27 and i pretty much have been spending all my money on fishing   to get  were i am now probably lived at home longer then i should have but thats the price to pay with a expensive obsession like fishing/hunting lol

I turn 75 in July - one more year & I'll be in the last category - LOL. Some days I'm feeling it too - badly need a prescription of soft water.

I posted and I'm the 56 to 65 range however my fishing partner ( who's not a member of Spoonpullers ) who's my Dad is 82. You could maybe add that one to the poll.

That's very true! I started out fishing the Grand River, then fly fishing. Then my dad got a boat and I got lucky with him allowing me to use it. While using his boat I bought all the rigging gear over the yrs then bought my own boat last yr. I'm fortunate to have a dad that allowed me to use his ...if I ever have kids I'll do the same for them.
