Copper Set-up Costs
« on: March 03, 2014, 01:58:13 pm »
Hey There,

Purchase a new Lund this year and plan on hitting Lake Ontario for Salmon this summer.

Wondering what the average cost of a 400' copper setup including a mid range Rod and Reel would cost?

here are a few examples if you want something already rigged.  As for poles, some like med/heavy, some like the okuma copper rod, some like.....

Rocko, I would budget approximately $300 for a copper setup. Okuma has a pretty nice off the shelf package (300 ft) for $299 + tax and I think they sell 400's as well, which would likely be another $30. If you have the time to put it all together yourself (including flouro leader), you're probably looking at about $260. I've been running the Convector CV55's and been very happy with them. I've got them mounted on 9 foot Rapala copper/leadcore rods with stainless guides and so far so good.

Yeah, those pre-spooled Okuma copper setups are the way to go.

How many yards of backing are on those pre-rigged okumas. On the smaller coppers 300 is 150 yds  of backing enough?
Do you really need to ask what I do for FUN!!!
