Leadcore and Fleas
« on: July 17, 2017, 09:17:31 am »
With the flea season fast approaching and being new to leadcore ,are there any issues with fleas attaching to the core (Running the new thinner suffix 27 # )

My experience has been the line is OK,  BUT not the knot from your backing.   They build up there REALLY bad.   Friday it took me nearly 5 minutes to pluck them off while fighting a small bow...
That said,  my most productive Rod has been a SWR rig so I keep plucking them off.

I have no issue with flea on leadcore.  I use mostly braid backing but I only let out enough backing to let the knot just touch the water so flea does not accumulate there. For a SWR, I would run 40# mono backing which is pretty flea resistant.
