We've been receiving some inquiries about the format of our Port Whitby Derby series, so thought we'd post some info for everyone...
We have 3 individual derbies and in EACH derby there are cash prize payouts for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place largest individual salmon and Gagnon Sports gift cards for 4th and 5th place largest salmon. The total amount of cash prizes are based on total number of rods entered in each derby.
For the Calcutta, each boat that participates is eligible for the Calcutta pot, which is paid based on the largest 3 salmon box for EACH derby. This year the executive decided to pay out a 70 / 30 split for 1st and 2nd place in the Calcutta.
For boats or teams that enter all 3 derbies, we track the largest salmon for each derby and award an overall season champion for total cumulative weight of the 3 largest salmon over the course of the 3 derbies. That boat or team is eligible to win a Scotty Downrigger and a cash prize.
It's been great getting these inquiries from new boats that are interested in entering our derby series this year. We are looking forward to our first derby coming up Saturday, July 7th. Hope you can make it!!
