What type of setups do you run off leadcore?
« on: April 08, 2019, 05:57:15 pm »
I have run bare spoons and sticks in the past.
Just wondering about other possibilities. Would spindoctors, cowbells, or rotaters rob you of depth or pull too hard for a board line?
I love golf it keeps thousands of unworthy off the water.

I ran mostly bare spoons but did have some success running a smaller agitator flasher in front of the spoon.  Very little resistance with them when pulling with lead core.

Spoons, plugs (Lymans), and reef runners.

I have had success running spin doctors and protrolls with 10 colours of lead in 45fow. Since the flashers create more resistance, a 10 core will not achieve the full depth of 55’ish feet as it would with a spoon

Yeah, that's exactly the problem with running flashers/spin doctors on leadcore.  It lifts the whole line right out of the water if the flasher is big enough, forget about a big paddle.  I did go to the small 6" flashers/spin doctors for the lead core lines, just to try and keep the bait down.

It’s not ideal but once you figure out the dive angle, lead core can act as a high long line if there’s no short coppers in the boat. Not the most efficient but It works

Havent tried a gang troll and leadcore . I would experiment with it in 20fow see how many colours it takes to touch bottom, that’s all I do

Leadcore is no different than anything else you use.  Run everything off of it.

Most of the time I run a small flasher and a meat rig. I had good success last year on this setup. Especially for a mid-day bite.h

Yeah, water needs to be cold though. You'll have no chance of catching anything like that in the middle of summer.  It might work in May, and mostly for steelhead, coho's and maybe some browns.  Forget about kings.

Correct, If the temps are there the kings can be there. We are talking about leadcore setups not temp ranges

Leadcore is no different than anything else you use.  Run everything off of it.

Except that it only goes down like 20', so if you put a big flasher on it, the bait will be water skiing on the top. I wouldn't say it's like everything else.
