Whitby June 30th
« on: June 30, 2020, 09:10:44 pm »
Went our last couple of days from Whitby.  Fished from 80-170fow.  3 fish yesterday and 5 fish today.  Almost all salmon on flasher/fly.  Most fish caught fishing down 40ft.  Surface temp 57 yesterday and today was 61.  Water temp was right around 44 degrees down 40.  Most fish marked between 85 and 110 fow.  Hoping the number of salmon in the area picks up in the next couple of weeks.
Tried something new today.  I select one rod out of a 4 rod spread and make it my experimental setup.  Tried running a mepps muskie hunter online spinner on the rigger.  No hits.  Ran a couple of crankbaits, Rapala J-11 and a larger stick bait.  Nothing.   One way of sprucing up slow fishing.
Hope everyone has a good fishing week and a happy  Canada Day!!

Nice fish! A good buddy of mine in BC was always encouraging me to try new fish techniques and not get stuck in a rut.  I am heading out tomorrow. I am bringing some brass spoons that have worked well in the saltchuk. Will try them in lake O for the first time, along with the usual gear.

Try Lymans on longer leads down deep.  When fish stop hitting the usual culprits this gets them going.....sometimes.
