Replacing boat windshield but plexi is $$$
« on: February 24, 2021, 08:25:29 pm »
I bought a used Legend 164 boat without a windshield and looking to DIY windshield in the spring. Was shocked at local plastic place quoted $300 for 3 x 4’ piece of 3/8th tinted plexi. I’d still be on the hook for cutting and bending which looks do able.

Ideally a used one would be great but they seem rare.

Anyone know of more economical ideas? Its an older boat and really dont want to invest a ton..

Thx ahead.

Plexi can still shatter, consider Lexan or ask an automotive glass company for their opinion.

I remember seeing a boat “graveyard” on the way to Port Dover... Will take a closer look in the spring.

Amazon and ebay have a lot of sellers, still sorting them out.

Thx for the help.

Actually the $300 quote was from paplastics. Nothing against them, I may be naive and just have to plan for that price or get lucky and find used one. My home lake is Balsam so I can check out that yard also.

Call or look at this- they are in Hamilton

https://paplastics.com/boat-windshields/windshields/products.html
300 seems reasonable if they were doing all the work.
check out Hamilton Plastics - not sure if they'll do the work but its worth a shot. they make a ton of stuff for us here at work.

Lexan is definetly the way to go though- its bullet proof!

you could always remove both windshield sides and make it a Dual console with snap on windshields?

$300 is what i have been quoted in Canada

Florida - some places are like $100- 150 - plus shipping - they want you to ship the old one -they will match it

By time it gets here probably same price - and with headaches

just got a piece of 1/4 inch plexi full sheet for 170 from canada plastics and belting in toronto not tinted but once you have piece bent and installed you may be able to tint yourself . just do some research on different types of plexi glass to be sure which one you want
