Replacing Fish Hawk Probe Battery holder

Everything I have seen indicates that the plug from the battery holder to the probe can go on either way.  Is this correct?

No. There's always a positive and negative. On my  X4D probe, if you have the receiving part of the probe on the left, the positive is towards (bottom) you.

Unfortunately the battery holder was not the problem. The whole probe is toast so I had to buy a new one.
