Toronto Islands Snooping Around June 9
« on: June 11, 2021, 07:57:35 am »
Decided to try off the Islands early on Wednesday; a little earlier than normal for me.
Surface temps 55 to 60 down temps 45 at 60 feet.

Marked a bit of bait down deep; hooks as well, took a while for first blue/chrome shoehorn off rigger fires; first Atlantic 3 lbs in years.  Took two rips on no. 1 Watermelon braid dipsey, 2 1/2 setting, 150 feet out with the same spoon; no hookups but hard enough to trip the dipsy's.

Then 1 coho on green/silver NK28 50/120 feet off rigger, 1 chinook 10 lbs on shoehorn down 115/130 and finally a 7lb steelhead off rigger 50/100.  Not too bad for 3 1/2 hours of fishing.

If we could have targeted a Laker and a brown we would have got all 6 salmonids in the lake.  No hits on paddle and meat, no hits on 10 colour leadcore down the chute.

If the weather cooperates we could see a real good thermal set up earlier than 'normal' this year.  Kings are scattered for sure.
