Grimsby Smackdown Oct 24
« on: October 25, 2021, 06:02:22 pm »
Absolutely fantastic day on Lake O yesterday... We felt like the Pirates of the Caribbean, nobody on the mostly flat lake (besides a few fellow anglers from other marinas whom we did not see). One white boat passed us around 120 fow and then after following us for a few minutes they took off. Well... they should have followed us out  :)

Launched from Foran's Marine, straight out to 100 fow, dropped the lines at 9 am (saw fish marks 40-50ft down there), nothing for a while, then we troll out, approaching 240 fow double header, which was the peak of the day, after that we kept losing all the big fish (5-6 big rainbows) and only boated and released shakers.

Things got a little better later on afternoon and we kept trolling between 240-300 fow picking up smaller rainbows (~3-4lb) here and there, and we ended up 10/17 but we took home only 6 fish (2 young kings and 4 rainbows), as we lost the big ones and released the small ones.

10 colors got 13 hits, 200 WS got 2 hits and rigger 60 ft down getting 2 hits. Luhr Jensen Shoehorn (wonderbread, hot banana) and Moonshine green hulk killed them all. The lake was very warm and the fleas are still there, and weather permitting I don't think we are done yet but it could be the last one for the season.

Thats awesome.  What surface/down temp did you have?  Hopefully warm lake this fall equals better yoy alewife survival.
