lead length?.

hi guys...been using church inline but have not had a hit on them ever...only luck has been occasionally on the dipseys. i have been using mono lines on the boards with stick baits. the question is how long are your leads? i have no idea of how deep these divers dive..eg j11 raps, reeferunners etc. been useing about 20 to 30 feet.

mine are a lot longer then that. short for me is about 80' and long 150' or so

Luremaker's websites will list dive charts.  Look at lure packaging as lure characteristics are usually listed.  Rapala has dive charts for all of their lures.

Another consideration is mono lb test.  Heavier lb tests will be thicker and sink less.  Use lighter lines to maximize depth.

Agreed, your leads are too short for these stick baits.  Longer leads also = more stealth.

This type of fishing is where linecounters really shine.

When necessary, you can use small dipsys and jet divers to fish deeper.  Church boards will handle this all very well.

Good advice by both.  You can also buy the precesion trolling book which gives dive curves for nearly all stick baits made to try and get your baits in the zone.  Also consider leadcore or snap weights to achieve greater depth off boards if desired.

Long leads 85' to 125' are the leads I use for Walleye and also with Browns...Sometimes I even go longer...Good Luck with your experiments...Just keep experimenting and read the precision angling books and you'll get there...If you can use line counter reels...Bernie
