pulling boards for salmon?
« on: August 03, 2010, 08:08:00 pm »
Im new to salmon fishing. Iv been out 2 times with a friend that has recently purchased a 24ft bayliner. He has a little more knowledge then I when it comes to fishing salmon.

We are fishing out of wellington along the Bonnet shoal. 2 trips out we have put very small salmon in the boat off rigger lines and spoons.

I noticed this past Monday someone fishing the area with boards? I have used them for walleye and also browns. But can someone explain the setup for deep water trolling with boards?

Would you use snap weights? dippsys?

If fish are up high in the water column, snap weights would be fine; if the fish are deeper, then lead core or copper would be the way to go, inline boards are attached to the backing and then let out behind the boat.
