Title: Jordan Harbour Marina
Post by: REX on July 04, 2021, 04:15:41 pm
Saturday July 3rd...headed out at 5 AM.   I was alone so one Dipsy and one downrigger.  Was in 100 feet with Dipsy 110 ft back , rigger 50 ft down and 40 ft out.  Action did not let up from 5:30 to 8:00.  Landed 5 Chinook 8-112 lbs.  Hooked a runner (second on double header) on spin doctor and fly that I never could turn around or stop.  Slowly tightened drag but no use...leader snapped.

LEN THOMPSON DIMPLED SERIES METALLIC RAINBOW SPOON AND FLIES early on then went to flasher with spoon (orange and black).

Sounds like a great morning!  You have to learn how to turn and chase those fish. Even if you can get them 90 degrees off to the side of the boat you'll be able to gain on them. There was some big fish around Jordan last weekend. We caught one 28 pounds right by the cheek and couldn't move that fish for the life of us. once it hit 900 feet on the line counter with out signs of slowing up my son did a great job of turning the boat gradually and we eventually were able to get that fish on the deck.

Thanks for the information.  Hopefully I get to try that.

How much line on the dipsy rig?    You really never should be spooled by anything out there.

I did not get spooled.   Just ran and i could not slow it down before it broke off...

But I did learn something from Darkfisher....
