What's your DREAM fishing trip
« on: June 14, 2021, 02:38:28 pm »
Howdy all.
Some context first. I'm turning 60 next May, I'm a twin. My brother enjoys fishing as much as I do.
We're planning our Dream trip and would like some suggestions as to where we should go. Ideally we'd like to keep it in Canada(maybe even in Ontario if we can find a truly awesome fishing experience here).

He and I went to a boat-in only resort in Gogama for 14 years in a row. Fishing there was great when we first started going up, but has greatly diminished in the last few years.

My Brother has spent many years in BC, and he and I have Salmon fished together there as well (we limited every day)

Whats the dream trip you experienced personally, we'd like to hear where you've been and how awesome it was.

Had an incredible fly-in experience, where? lets hear about it.

Our wives are footing the bill as this trip will be our birthday gifts next year.
Where should he and I go next Spring or summer.
Looking forward to seeing where you recommend.

Thanks for your input.

Look up Kesagami lodge in Ontario. Fly out of Cochran itís a 5 star lodge with monster pike and walleyes till your arm falls off. All catch and release except for a shore lunch of walleye.

Cool, thanks. I've heard of them before.  Have you been there? Sounds like what we're looking for.

Yes been there twice once with the guys and once with my wife. Biggest pike I caught was 45 inches but now there biggest is 52 inches. Was to go July 1st week with the wife for my 60th but COVID has screwed that up with the lockdown. Now it will be next year same week. They are only open 8 weeks so book early if you want to go. Watch some YouTube videos itís a Great Lake and has only gotten better with the catch and release polices.

I was lucky enough to have a wealth friend fly me out to Vancouver and we flew/helicoptered into a salmon lodge in Millbank sound (near Bella Bella BC in the central coast) fishing was good and the food was exceptional. Brought back 45lb of fresh King salmon. I think the trip was 5K US and it was 1st class

Thanks for all the options everyone. We've got a wee bit of time before we make our decision. The Giant Tuna idea is awesome, but after watching the series Wicked Tuna, it seems bites could be few and far between. Were they catching Bluefin, or Yellow?

    Thanks for the suggestion

We've both been Salmon fishing on the West coast, was certainly an adventure, great scenery too. Mr. Rockin-steelhead I haven't fly fished in 25 years, seems like fun, but has a bit of learning curve. Last time I fly fished my fishing partner pinged me a few times in the head with the fly when he drew back trying to cast. Thanks for the suggestion.

For me, a bucket list trip in Ontario would be nipigon river brook trout. On my list I also have northern Quebec Arctic char, west coast halibut, sturgeon, and salmon, east coast blue fin tuna.
Good luck wherever you go and happy birthday!

Thanks for the suggestions BigMatt. We were leaning towards a Great Slave Lake(or somewhere out there) adventure. Perhaps some monster Pike and Lakers. But we're open to all suggestions. Cheers

You only turn 60 ONCE ... splurge.

(1) Marlin fishing in Costa Rica
(2) Giant Tuna fishing off East Coast
(3) Alaska Salmon Fishing (aiming for a 60lb beast).
Fishing, the best addiction out there ...
